May be inclined to sell my Rapidcraft, just gettin' a bit older, priorities changing. It is nicely fixed up now, very clean, good fun for racing or just blasting around our lakes. A few days ago I wrote to Doug and Norm, got this reply just now from the Muskoka/Parry sound MPP... Good afternoon, As you may have heard, in response to concerns from people like yourself, the Government updated the List of Essential Workplaces to allow marinas to serve any customer who needs thei...

FOCA is a useful organization supportive of cottagers' rights. Have to add that I know the head honcho -- Terry Rees -- he used to work for me, then he left the downtown corporate world, joined FOCA and moved to much less stressful Peterborough. A couple of seasons ago he came out to the Sep Peterbo...

I'm with you on this one. If these restrictions stay in place longer than early May, I might take you up on your offer of a borrowed canoe. We have a small mainland parking area -- no boat ramp but provides water access, a fine place from which to canoe across [me + battery + gas tank]. I also want ...

Right on! I can/do run at 6200-6250 rpm, watch the gauge a bit at those rpms. Only hit the limiter once, in some moderate waves, which may have caused a bit of fluctuation in rpms, and that cut much of the power for a short while, then came back to full power [not ideal during a race, I suppose]. St...

I do plan on watching this film soon. I recently watched "The 24 Hour War" on Netflix. Same story, but the documentary version. I think good to see the real thing, then the movie. Or maybe the other way around? Not quite sure, actually. Up to you. The documentary was excellent. And the mov...

Little as possible. I first had Bob's Machine reversible jack plates at the min ~ 2" setting, but couldn't get the motor angled in enough to get out of the hole well, based on the transom angle on the RC. So I replaced those with two Bob's wedges, installed to allow the motor to tuck in more, a...

I also have a Ron Hill 3 blade over hub 12.5" 22 pitch that Kawartha re-worked a bit and cut down to 12". With that, 64 mph at 6200 rpm on the Rapidcraft/4 stroke 60 Merc combo. Of course another variable is prop height -- on the RC, centre of shaft is 1.75" below the transom. The mot...

This fall on a cool day with Matt at the cottage I did manage a solid 65 mph at 6200 rpm with the Rapidcraft and Merc 60 4 stroke, when I re-borrowed the Jeff Brown SE winning prop [that I got from Jeff Baker and sold to Rick who I believe hasn't tried it yet but who lent it to Matt]. That's a 12&qu...
