Some of you might not be working on your own gear cases so I thought I would put up this video showing whats involved with tear down as well as the tools needed to do it. The gear case I used in the video is what I thought was a 1975 Johnson Stinger 75 hp straight skeg gear case, but it ended up being a 1986 Johnson 15" 50 Hp. The are almost exactly the same but the gears are different as you know on the 75 hp.

I will also be doing a video showing how to setup the clearances in the gear case and re-assemble it.

I'm going to be doing re-assembly video probably next week . I've been waiting for the body shop to finish painting my motor parts , so I'm going put two gearcases together one in white for my MOD50 six pack on my Tuff Boats infused Critchfield and one for a high compression 1976 75 stinger for my 1973 Crestliner Spoiler.

Hello, sorry about the assembly video of the 15 inch case i have on my 2013 Critchfield, after building the case and shooting the segments and steps my vid camera failed to upload and the data file corrupted, so I lost too many sections of the data file to make a good movie of it, thanks to Windows 8 freeze up during import.

I have another gear case to do this winter for my 1973 Crestliner Spoiler boat so I'm going to re-shoot the video with my new camera and my new iMac computer, tossed in the towel on windows for this kind of work. Very disappointed as it was a lot of work all wasted.

Sorry for the delay.
