Hey all. I picked up a couple of sweet Alpine Type R 6x9s that I am going to drive off a 100 w Kenwood amp that fell out of the sky in my boat. Just curious what others have for a battery setup. Do you run a 2 battery setup with a deep cycle to listen to tunes when you are sitting around or a single setup? I am curious how quick a single cranking (650 cranking amps) battery might drain down when the motor isn't running.

Dubber Jon why would want a big heavy battery draining stereo in you boat ? With the portable technology that is available today you can get something light and cheap and run it through you smart phone for hours and not have to worry about your boat not starting. Jmo

I don't actually want another battery at all in my boat Kenny and this is why I am asking. I am curious how much play time I will get with this type of setup before my existing battery dies and strands me somewhere :? . Yes there is lots of light weight stuff out there but I really do feel that a nice (small) amp with some speakers is the way to go.

That might not be a bad idea. Anyone running an amp though on a single battery?

Here is a cool unit from Crappy Tire. Looks kinda neat ...

Looks like it's on sale right now as well. I was looking at the Matco Tools version and this is less expensive.

I ran a small amp and stereo in that boat for quite a number of years. I think I'd step up the battery to an 850mca maybe but the little booster pack would be the best idea. Or get one of Sernic's crazy batteries and go 24v trim and stereo lol.
