RACING ONLY - Lower Unit Clutch Dog for the 3 cyl. SST60 or Nitro Lower Unit

https://gearprosinc.com/shop/ols/products/sst60-c

"Also made with a relief ramp on the forward lugs to aid in shifting into forward gear."
what's all that about?

Sounds to me like that relief ramp could bite you in the butt. Usually, a sharp crisp edge is preferred. In fact, a worn out clutch dog has rounded edges, causing it to slip out of gear??? What do I Know??

That's what I was thinking, Thom.. So I hope someone can explain why it would be better with that "relief ramp"..

I replaced an older clutch dog in my lower because of those same worn areas.

ok I pulled out a clutch and fwd gear to see what's what.
I had been looking at it backwards. The GearPros one makes sense now.
The ramp is on the trailing side of the dog - so it'll start to fall in to the gear sooner.
