I really don't like the fact that you have to mail in this bullshit... you used to be able to walk into the Service Canada and get it done.... they claim its easier... for them maybe. now i have to wait for them to get it together and risk two weeks of boating not have the craft licensed....

STUPID !!!!!

We do it online and we get a 90day temp permit to give to the customer while the official permit is generated. Your bill of sale works as a temp as well. In all of my days of boating I've never been asked for a permit....and besides...just put 50E numbers on and keep going lol.

The alternative to the costs, mailing in letters, and standing in line and getting the vessel stickers is that we could all apply to a government agency with a fee listing the reasons why we should be allowed to do this and perhaps, just perhaps the person reviewing the application is in a good mood and they issue a permit 7 years later that says we are now allowed to purchase a boat but no motor as that is another agency. It is much better living here than mother Russia circa 1976.

But who wouldn't want to be towing their boat with a Lada Niva???

The new system actually works well...the "service" Canada BS was brutal. I have time to mail a letter....I DO NOT have an afternoon to spend in a government office...Sorry James but you're close to getting me on a rant lol. Ask me about my experience with Bell....that'll put me over the edge :).

I hear the Lada is great for towing. It goes 400 hectares on a tank of gas and only costs 3746382848 rubles to fill up.

Actually you are spot on about the waiting in line at a service Canada desk. It is brutal and a pain in the butt. My adventure started by waiting in line there to have them tell me I need a signed declaration from somewhere else which I then bring back to them again to wait in line again..."sigh"....
