Saw 2 new sharp 21' J's at TIBS today, candy apple red metal flake w 175 Yaha(<$60K), other white with sharp blue metal flake band at deck/hull seam w 225 Yaha. Lots of Wow's and status inquiries.
Spoke with Chris (?) who was running their booth herding photographers. He acknowledged John Spaeth has been making 1-3 one off J's over last decade. With new capital investment Chris insisted several times he and John are partners go forward to crank production & will move production from Brechin to Parry Sound area.

Probably Chris from Gordon Bay marine. I don't know him. Chris Spaeth is working in Alberta these days.

Recent production of 1-3 sounds about right. They built 2 in 2017, ours and a red/white one.

Did you find out what the difference is between the J21LS and the J21SS?

It's Chris from Moon River marine. He, Bruce (owner of Gordon Bay Marine) and John are partners in this endeavour. I heard the same about moving the production up to Parry Sound in order to increase production.

Looks like the ls vs as is the seating. One has standard 2 buckets and rear bench and the other just had 2 buckets up front with the passenger facing rearward....this boat also has a barefoot boom so their may be a connection or just showing accessories.

We were talking about the price of the new Jcrafts on the weekend and all the old performance boats like chargers, baja, hydrostream, checkmates etc, and the high price tag to build performance boats now. The minimum wage in the mid 80's was around $3.50/hr. I paid around $10K for a brand new charger dl in 1986 which was about the same price as a new Camaro or Mustang at the time. Minimum wage today = 14.00 which is 4x 1986 minimum wage. Take the charger DL @ $10K in 1986 dollars x 4 = $40K now....basically in line with a new Camaro or Mustang.

I guess we forget the value of a dollar back in the 80's versus now.

Those are cool looking boats. Are they a V hull? Any pad built into them?
