UP-DATE
After no interested people in months. I get two interested people in 2 days. We would need 5 or 6 boats to make this doable.

If we could get this guy to pull his molds out of retirement and make a few there'd be some nice lake/race boats available

As you can see by the thread dates, this idea has been around for several years. Since then there have been newer motors and overseas there are classes that have good boat counts and NEW SCHOOL RACERS.

THE BOAT has to be a tunnel design true tunnel or Mod VP
wood, or composite or combination of both
production made or home built
10 to 14 feet in length
No cells
The boat can be a kneel-down style with no trim and hand throttle
OR
foot throttle, seat and power trim

THE MOTOR
30 to 50 hp 2 stroke or 4 stroke
2 strokes have a max displacement of 45 cubic inches
4 stroke is horsepower rated only 50 hp maximum

Rules are same as T750 with one big difference...WATER PICK-UPS
What makes these small motor tunnels really perform is the sponson mounted water pick ups
Those along with a nose cone allow the gear case to be out of the water at speed with little drag on the gear case.
Better than a speedmaster!
You can see the two pick ups and tubes on the back of the F4 Tunnels

Some racers can get real performance out of a 30 hp

I was asked what 4 stroke motor I would run.
For 2016 the only 15 inch model is the Tohatsu 50 hp.
It is 52 cubic inches with a 2:08 foot.
Heavy at over 200 lbs. compared to the light 50D two stroke.

We need 5 people to get the class going. The 5 boats would run with the T750. They would not run on there own. Overseas they mix the small horsepower V and tunnels. Many people are dropping out of GT30 because of the blow overs. The tunnel at 50 to 55 mph is safer and much easier to drive compared to the GT30.
I would encourage the 5 racers to have boats that ALL ran in the 50 to 60 mph range. It should be a starter class and they need to work together. We could see tunnels develop in faster classes but that would happen down the road.
