A class I thought could get people interested is something with a home built boat, only one design, and common engine. A tunnel like this: http://www.svensons.com/boat/?p=Mechani ... ed/AquaRod with a v4 or inline 6 long shaft engine. Capable of I bet over 80mph, build it yourself and cheap engines. Perhaps not that specific design, maybe have a group of people design a boat and easy to follow plans.

You must remember the capsule rules......That boat would require a safety capsule built by a registered APBA certified capsule builder and the other bow rules would also apply
You should be able to build a tunnel 40 cubic inch 40 hp 2 stroke/50 hp 4 stroke with no safety cell.
On a stock hydro BASS could build a blank mid section and gear case. Racers then mount a modern 20 to 30 hp powerhead on it.
Don't forget about electric motors. They are getting lighter, less costly, producing more power and the batteries are getting smaller and lighter.

It's that pink steering cylinder that's screwing you out of every class right now Kenny....

[You should've been in Peterborough for the inaugural OPBRA race.
Tight schedule.
Started on time.
Action packed.
Little (if any) down time between classes & heats.
Lots to do on land for spectators as well.
It was more then a race......
It was an event.

Took the words right out of my mouth!! OPBRA had less down time than many other races I've been to.......CANADA and USA!! OPBRA did that in first year!....wait till 2018!!!! Back in the 90s we had driver's meeting at 9am and waited till 1pm to start with 20 minute delay in between heats! OPBRA is a Canadian powerboat racing comeback!!

I have always thought there was a CANADIAN VERSION OF COR that would work up here.
COR died in the states because it got too fast and APBA added the cage rule.
http://corboatracing.com/

In Ontario we have lots of old 16 to 18 foot ski boats that are just shells. We have lots of cheap 100 to 150 hp motors. The cage is a good safety rule and pulling one in an junk ski boat doesn't hurt or destroy the boat. Have a claiming rule for the motor. Its a HOBBY CLASS for both men and women. The racers Drag Race and Circle Race at the same event. Total points winner gets a prize.
