Who else is digging into an old project that got pushed aside months or years ago? If you are a non-essential worker and have found yourself with time on your hands, tell us what your doing in your garages, man caves or dog houses! Hopefully we can inspire others to dig into old projects and share their stories, with hopes of keeping each other entertained in these difficult times.

I have been carting around a 245hp Merc power head for about 7 years. The motor was getting a little tired and when I pulled the heads the there was some Nickisil coming off the cylinder walls. I sent the block state side to Jim Ruck and had the cylinders all re coated with Nickisil. I also had the pistons top pinned due to the possibility of the locating pin coming out during use. I ordered a new set of titanium rings, some bearings, seals and gaskets and shortly after all these items were packed up to prepare for a house move, that is where the items have stayed for the last 5+ years. So now it is all out in the light again and ready to inspect clean and get to it!

More to come.....I hope!

Post your projects

I tend to sell my projects before I finish them lol
But not before I put countless hours and money into them lol
Right now I'm re assembling my newly powdercoated mid and getting ready to drop my new SST60 powerhead on to it.
Lake is open and I need a boat ride!

For me, it is more like stalled projects...
I don't have my own tools and space to do blasting/prep/paint on a couple of motors at least.. Wish I did because I want to try a few paints to see how closely they match factory paint jobs, and then see how well they wear and last underwater.

I couldn't help it though, and did assemble a 75hp Stinger. It is approx 1984 in configuration. I used as much as I could from the leaking nitro lower it came with but it needed a complete rebuild, and I put all the lower guts in a different case because it had come with a nose coned lower and I didn't want to run a nose cone.

So it looks like crap at the moment because of different colours on all the parts , but I'm stoked to try it because it got a lot of care and attention and new parts during re-assembly.

Gunna fire it up soon, I hope. unfortunately, can't really lake test it due to closures and restrictions...

Looks good Matt.
I wonder what the difference will be from the 70 Yamaha?

One day it will look good.
I'm hoping for miracles. Top speed I saw with the long shaft old Yamaha 70hp was 62mph.

Yesterday I managed to cut the front piece of floor out clean it all up with grinder. Next make peddle block and glass into place. All prep work so I can gel the interior.

Why not eh
