A few days ago I wrote to Doug and Norm, got this reply just now from the Muskoka/Parry sound MPP...

Good afternoon,

As you may have heard, in response to concerns from people like yourself, the Government updated the List of Essential Workplaces to allow marinas to serve any customer who needs their boat to access a property, removing the “primary residence” requirement.

Below is the changed section of the Essential Workplaces List:

Marinas
1. Marinas must ensure that only the following services are provided:
1. Repairing or servicing boats or other watercraft.
2. Placing boats or other watercraft in the water to be secured to a dock until the marina is open to the public.
3. Any other services that may be required to:
i. enable individuals to access their place of
residence or their other property,
ii. support government operations or services, or
iii. support the transportation of items by
commercial barges.
2. Marinas cannot be used for recreational boating purposes, except as described above in paragraphs 1 and 2.

That being said, the government is asking that everyone avoid unnecessary travel. As seasonal residents I ask that you travel to your properties for essential reasons or when you do travel to your seasonal residence, consider staying there. For now please avoid traveling back and forth repeatedly between communities.

It is also imperative that anyone traveling to a seasonal residence continue to practice the same public health measures as you would at home – no public gatherings, avoiding nonessential travel as much as possible, and continue to practice social distancing. It is also being requested that seasonal residents consider bringing supplies with them or using curb-side pick up options and isolate for at least the first two weeks after your arrival.

As the Premier has said, this is not going to be a usual Victoria Day weekend. Please don’t invite other people to your cottage or gather with cottage friends.

Thank you and again for reaching out with you concerns. I hope you find the recent changes helpful.

Sincerely,

Norman Miller,
Member of Provincial Parliament
Parry Sound-Muskoka

the Township of Georgian Bay press release from Friday said essentially the same thing and included a comment: "Fairness has been restored"...

My dock sections are 10’ long, we only need 6’ for social distancing
