Anyone else feel something shifting on the dark side?

Could be that I found one of these in my shop:

We had planned on rigging it with a Yamaha but given the timeframe we were working with and availability...the Opti was a convenient choice (Thanks to The Gun for supplying the motor!). The boat is a 19' Scorpion which I think is relatively rare...we got rid of a 25" carbed 2.5L (200??) for a more appropriately sized 20" 225 3.0L pOpti. It should be a nice package.

What boat was the 19 Scorpion based on? Did they do their own design?

It's about time you listened to the gun and got some class in the shop!

I think Tuff knows the real story but it appears to be a cut down 21. It's pretty much half way between the 21 and the DL...

Interesting indeed. I didnt know that Scorpion made a 19. It looks more like a challenger / DL than a Scorpion but that is likely in the windshield.

The only scorpions I've seen are copies of the challenger 21. The boat is actually pretty well built and ha 7 colour gel that is VERY well done..

They also made a 16 footer. Yes the pic looked like it had lots of gel work in it. Scorpion appears to be another casuality of the Canadian boating industry in the late 80's and early 90's. But now a memory.

On the note of Challenger copies I know of one sitting under a tarp if you are interested ;)

Yeah, the 19. Here is all I know. I was told that there was only two ever built. When I saw it at the boatshow a long long time ago, I thought it was very cool. I was told that the boat has an unsolvable porpoise problem. It would be interesting to try to fit it, but may be that is why it did not make it past two units built.
I would expect that like almost all things Scorpion, it is loaded with issues.

Funny...they both were up here at one point. The other I know about is merc racing colours and had a 2.4 "bridgeport" on it....it was THE boat I wanted when I was 14. This one doesn't really seem to have any glaring issues other than it probably could use a transom (but it is a 1989)....and....assuming that it does not have core..ahem. The gel work is amazing given the reputation that scorpion has for build quality. The other 19 was the same in that respect...

When I recieved the boat it had a 25" 2.4L 200 and the boat didn't really have a porpoising issue...but also wasn't very fast 65 TOPS. Now with the 20" Opti AND 200+ litres of fuel behind the back seat it does!! He was running a thru-hub cleaver and now we tried James' chopper so...maybe a stern lifting prop might help (as well as burning half the fuel off).
