Picture this...a critchfield with an 8 to 10 inch wide, 4 inch deep tunnel that replaces the full length running pad in the boat.
Think about it....what would that change do to the boats performance?

The CTTboat would still have narrow pads on each side of the tunnel so it is still a V hull with a pad. The tunnel structure makes the hull stronger especially in the bow section where the hull normally crack. The top of the tunnel becomes the floor on the inside so you can bolt your seat, battery etc thru the bottom. The sides of the tunnel can be extended to include the transom knees . The combination is similar to a strong box. The tunnel should make the hull run flatter, turn better and accelerate better out of the corners. Tunnels make the prop more efficient and if you wanted transom mounted water pickup the tunnel is a good location. You may want to have a wider tunnel in the front and narrow it a bit in the stern. That will create upward pressure and help lift the stern and you would not require as much or any wedge in the prop blades.
