This gentleman has obviously built a few of these small boats in the past. He knows the process having done it before. The fact he uses the bottom portion of a larger boat for his hull reminds me of the early days of small V bottom boats where we did the same thing and put wood decks on the fiberglass hull.
What was a surprise to me was what he did after he made the wood deck and how he attached the the new deck to the hull.

A few takeaways from the video.
- I never thought of margarine as a release agent for fiberglass on wood. It seems to work very well.
- It would be possible to make pattern pieces of transoms, transom knees, stringers, floor , dash, seat supports etc. out of thin plywood and make fiberglass copy or copies of them the same way he copied his wood deck.
- you could eliminate wood altogether in your built and make the boat even stronger.
- many times a deck section has been badly damaged, had multiple repairs, full of filler, heavy and very time sensitive if you wanted to fix it. Cutting out the section, using thin plywood to make a template, making the fiberglass copy and fiberglass in the copy would do a better repair.
