Our helmets - They have to be hi-viz orange or yellow/green ya, but they have to be SNELL rated too? Is that an insurance thing? Or could i just get a DOT rated one and that'd be okay? Or in our new T-rules can we change something like that? Manufacturers are moving away from SNELL certified helmets too :?

Not sure what your VRP rules say, but stock outboard was Snell, then APBA moved away from Snell for fear of law suits. So CBF changed it's rule to DOT to allow the APBA racers. Now APBA has gone back to Snell. CBF is still just DOT (Snell is fine too).

So you don't know what the next year brings, but currently in Stock Outboard, DOT is legal. I assume the same in VRP. If you want to cross the border, you have to have Snell.

The Euro specs mean little at this point over here in boat racing even though they seem to be taking over in retail stores.

The rule are what you make them.

Just to add... the rules almost always have nothing to do with insurance. They will usually insure whatever your rules are... WHat they really care about is that you follow your rules.
