Depends which one...their 70 is like 80lbs heavier than the Yamaha...their 60 is 20lbs lighter than the yamaha though...either way they won't make the power to be competitive against an 850 motor...and you're cutting up a $7000 motor. I would love to experiment with the 70 but it would be a very expensive proposition.

You could always buy a merc formula 60... Comes 15" with solid mounts...or for a 10th of the cost have a competitive motor lol.

It's good to talk about the green motors. Sooner or later we will see them in both classes. The performance of the 60 Mercury Race motor on the 16 Tuff was very good. On a 14 or 15 foot Allison it would be T class competitive. The cost is out of reach for most T racers. Jake and I looked at the new 70 hp 4 stroke Yamaha at the TIBS. It is not that much heavier than the 2 stroke. On the older VooDoo with the 24 transom it would be competitive. But again it is the cost factor. We are starting to see used 4 strokes at affordable prices. For them we need a mid conversion. Pool some money and we can get a universal one designed and built.

its really only double the cost. . how much is a competitive 56er to build all out. i know its not a $700 kijiji special wining races :|

So it's twice as much to buy a stock 70hp versus an all out 56...now, how much does it cost to build an all out 4stroke? A stock 70 4stroke isn't going to be on the lead lap in 850. If you have to pay someone to build your 56 than it's unlikely you're going to DIY a 16 valve motor lol.

I would LOVE to try it but you'd have a $15k 4stroke that may or may not be competitive.

Don did you see the 60 yamaha as well? Same powerhead but a lighter mid with a small gearcase. That would be the combination you'd need to start with...it's probably just an ecu change to make it a 70...

I need more money lol.
