KAL Racing wrote: 4 stroke Merc Race ? You are correct!! He has ordered the motor and it should arrive this spring. We will have two 4 stroke Mercurys in the class. I will not have my rig running this year. This one will be the first. Based on the prop test we did on Mark's 16 Tuff the motor should be very competitive with the top boats especially on the longer courses. I think we will see the OMCs and the Yamaha be strong at Waterford. The 4 stroke Mercury will show its legs at Gravenhurst. http://www.mercuryracing.com/outboards/ ... rmularace/ |

Very Disappointing....1981 60 DE 6F1 yamaha short shaft! After years of tracking down parts for one of these motors. I get this YOUTUBE video of one of the motors in action. I hope it is a case of using the motor for the wrong application!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KK2PdG1Sg5s |

Are you concerned with its performance in a family water sports application? I don't see much in that video good or bad in terms of putting it on a T boat. |

What up set me the most was the sound of it. The racers that I contacted both said their motors did sound racy right out of the box. There are not many if any 100 percent original motors left. DOC not to worry my motor will be on a T boat. Mariner did use the 6F block and large tuner on the 1982 model. I have a NOS 6F block and all the other parts except the base plate and tuner. There were lots of 1982 outboards sold in the USA so chances are good of locating the parts. http://www.boatracingfacts.com/forums/s ... r-assembly |
