Selling my 2000 Mercury 225 Promax. Complete motor minus gearcase. Motor is not running, turns over but not firing, do not know why. Had a complete rebuild 2 years ago .040 over bore. No holes or cracks in the block. Alien cowl in great shape. Good project or parts motor. Make an offer, want it out of my garage.

Brent

How many hours since the rebuild 2 years ago?
What was done in the "complete" rebuild?
Who did it?

Not sure on hrs, it was used almost every weekend, mostly just cruising and pulling the kids tubing and wakeboarding. It was intermittently not starting when warm a few times this summer then just stopped starting completely a few weeks ago. I had already bought a 200xs to put on my boat so just pulled it off, no idea what is wrong with it.
All cylinders were bored to .040 over, all new pistons, bearings and gaskets. Andy at the Prop Drop in Lindsay did the rebuild.

That is definitely not the motor I sold, I compared it to my pics. It sold on kijiji. The guy who bought it did mention that he had a good powerhead he was going to sell. Personally I would never pay $3k for a powerhead bored .040 over....
