Bored on the weekend, I was looking at the local paper. There was an ad for a one owner 60 HP Mercury . Ends up it is a big foot model with the powerhead in pieces [not 2 parts together] . Owner said he didn't use his boat much, it started to run rough, took it to a marina, they said it had low compression, they disassembled it, gave him a price to fix it, gave him a price for a new motor and a turn in price for his old motor. He got the new motor, but didn't turn in his old motor. I looked at the block bores, pistons , rings and crank...only a few marks on 1 piston.....re-ringed and it should be fine. The lower unit has no damage at all and the water pump impeller looks perfect. I think $400.00 is a very fair price...maybe cheap compared to the market. |
