For anyone interested, here's what happened to my 49.
A bunch of snapped wires, some broken mechanical, and it looks like the switch box got hit pretty hard.
I got it pretty well sorted out, except no spark yet. I'll investigate it further tomorrow, but it is pretty likely that I'll need a new switch box.
If you know of one please let me know!

Jake, are the carbs & block OK? I know you made the bracket to mount the coils, CDI etc. Looking the block I think you can mount the stock mounting plate from a 56r, which will save you a lot of time. I did a 49 with the 56 plate and it was a direct bolt on. You can use the iginition parts from a 56 as well. That will give you more options. Just a note for guys with 56'rs. The iginition parts are better quality with the early motors. The China made replacement parts are not as good. You can mount the mid and late 80's 49 iginition parts on the 56 mounting plate. You just need to lengthen some wires. Those parts a cheap to buy and GOOD! You must make sure you use matching components. The plugs are different.

That was a real shame Jake! You dealt with it like a gentlemen though... I'm pretty sure Shivers still has a complete 49ci for cheap?
I hope you get it running soon! ...BTW, you've got a sweet setup!! ...that boat has got to be one of the fastest T-boats out there! ;)

Dave.

Can't say much for the carbs or the block until i get some spark. I imagine/hope that they are okay. I'm just going to eliminate the idle needles on the carbs, as that was the only apparent damage to them. Block compression is fine too.

Engine is running again - i replaced/fixed everything i had to, and thanks to "Little Charger" for the cdi box! I just found that the drive shaft rubs on the clutch dog in neutral now... didn't notice that before, but it shouldn't be like that right? Otherwise, i am literally doing the bodywork on the boat right now!

did you find out what happened with the rubbing on the clutch dog ?

Yes, it's not unheard of to rub when you turn it by hand. Once the engine is running the force of the spinning gears throws the drive shaft up away from the clutch dog.
