The T group has always been looking at purchasing boat molds to develop a smaller hp T class. The boat would need to be SAFE, affordable, dual purpose. This would encourage 14 year olds to get into racing. I not sure if this hull would work. But, it is an option.

Nope...my dad and I restored one for me when I was 12/13 and I drove it once....drove the 14' tinny instead. I bought a new voodoo at 14 and never got out of it..

He's selling the molds because no one wants those boats......

The Jewel certainly fits into the "safe and dual purpose" category, it's the main reason fathers bought them for their teen aged kids but back then they ran 35 hp motors. As to "affordable", that's subject to build costs etc., not my area.
Given how wide they are at the transom, cornering around the pin in a chop would be entertaining (challenging).

The cost to build a jewel is the same as building a voodoo/delta/critch....all of which are a far better race or pleasure boat.

Not a big jewel fan lol..

For $14k you could start a series.
So much for "affordable".

Speed wise the jewel does not fit but safety it fits the category, if you were to slap some 3cyl mod motors on them and maybe a jack etc to run 45,50 ish i think the kids would learn to drive them then eventually would want to move into the voodoo or critch where they have to have a little more steering input, it worked for me 8-) ;) but Christ, if this does happen someone please redesign the top mold. for the love of god.

Not sure of anything about the other models or the racing they would potentially be involved in but thought I would add that when pushed hard in corners they had a very sudden bite. Only experienced once or twice as I was warned but definitely caught ones attention
