Remember the very most important thing in drag racing is not how fast you go but how quick you get there. That means getting the boat up and out of the water as quickly as possible ( skid planer , cav plate , fast trim , weight balance etc etc )
And all of those things you may do for quicker acceleration will not hurt your top end one bit
