Ken you haven't answered the question as to why a 12" mid 1550lb boat is scaring you ? It is nothing to worry about trust me. A 12" mid is a mid ...... it is not another two cylinders !!!

In 2014 rules stated 15" mid minimum, then you guys went on your Jasper trip and come back with new rules for 2015… 12" mid rule  Lost the vote and you and Chummy think you won the argument… OK !

Too answer the question as to why a 12" mid 1550lb boat is scaring me is because when I pull into my driveway with a New XR 2002 with a ported 280 on a 12"Gieger/Top Gun set up, my wife is going to fucking KILL me  !

Ken let me put it in a way you may understand easier :
A 400lb woman sitting in a 100lb wagon takes as much effort to pull up a hill as a 125lb woman sitting in a 375lb wagon also having to be pulled up that same hill ..... !
I hope this helps Ken ;)

M.CHAPMAN

We have proven that a 12" Merc mid has zero advantages over a custom built one or even a 15" for that matter..especially when you have to run a minimum weight for the class...only advantage is weight off the tail of the boat that improves the launch and the set on the pad..."heads up racing rules" will forever be a mystery to me...

The lighter mid does improve holeshot somewhat and in a heads up race, especially a short one, holeshot means alot

That's why I stated that.....

5000 RPM

Its all about weight and if you take that much weight out of one peice then you get to break it up and put it where you want it. And its in the heads up rules trying to keep the cost down in some classes and keep some class seperation between a few different classes.

Iv been told told by a few different people with Dyno's that the same powerhead will make more H.P. on a 20 inch mid.

SEE so the 20" motors have the real advantage ;)
