The 1972 World Championship featured the first year the Mercury and OMC factory teams ONLY raced single engine tunnels. The race was over 2 days. The race was 4 hours each day. A true test of motors. The winner was the boat that completed the most laps in the 8 hours. We see 20 entries today .....they had 119 entries! The motors were the V4 OMC and the inline six mercury.
