This is an original 19 foot late 1960’s Standard model Checkmate. It was the largest model Checkmate built back then . It was a double sided balsa core hull that was very deep. The standard model had the bucket seats. The deluxe model had back to back seating. This one also has the original trim tabs. Very strong hull. A few were raced in Ontario. One called My Three Sons was powered by twin mercury in-line six motors with Speedmaster gearcases. Another had twin Chrysler stackers on it. Jerry R had one with a in-line six which I believe later became John Beer’s boat with a V6 mercury.. Big boat that could run 55 mph with a single 140 hp motor. I saw one run in the states a few years ago with a 200 mercury, a large setback and power lift. It ran in the 80 mph range. The trailer is trailex all aluminum from the same time period. This is one of a series of 12 where the fellow restores the metal flake on the boat.
